If Ray Faiola’s post wasn’t enough of an indicator of it’s quality, here is an interview with Scott MacQueen on the restoration of Doctor X:

In that article on the restoration I had to chuckle at the shot of the Rex Theatre marquee proclaiming the film in "Georgeous (sic) Technicolor."

Warner Archive seems to have accidentally posted clips from next month’s batch (near as I can tell, it doesn’t seem to be an April fools prank) containing the following films:

The Private Lives of Elizabeth and Essex
The Yearling
They Won’t Believe Me uncut
Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House
Escape from Fort Bravo
Athena
The Tender Trap
Bachelor in Paradise
Drunken Master II

https://www.youtube.com/user/warnerarchive

If this is genuine, the clips are definitely new transfers, with Elizabeth and Essex looking especially pleasing.

Edit: Forgot to include Athena on the batch list.

Yup, Elizabeth and Essex really does look stunning, especially when you think of how bad the DVD looked, with all those misaligned colours. I hope it's one of the releases.

I have a 16 of the uncut THEY WON'T BELIEVE ME. Apparently the BFI yielded another uncut gem for Warners.

Warner Archive has changed its URL. When I click on the usual one, I get a page saying "Alexlandia1 Coming Soon"
https://www.wbshop.com

The Archive can be viewed on Warner's "touch screen" friendly site, but purchasing is thru other online stores:

I'm so happy that WB have finally gotten around to They Won't Believe Me. I've been a big supporter of this neglected film noir for many years now. It looks gorgeous in HD and the full 95 minute version no less!

My (no spoiler) review:

Among the BFI's holdings--five positives and one negative--all of varying lengths, is this:

35mm BW Positive - Nitrate - CTA - Combined - 9100 Feet - Stock date: 1947 - - C-169580

This is the longest version they have. The others range from 8510 to 8710 feet. If the 9100 feet for this one is correct, it would run 101 minutes. Very odd.

Official announcements seem to be coming out today. As of this post, of the nine films that had clips posted on YouTube a few posts up, they’ve announced Drunken Master II, Elizabeth and Essex, They Won’t Believe Me, The Yearling, and Mr. Blandings so far.

They've just announced Escape from Fort Bravo (1953), so that leaves: Athena, The Tender Trap & Bachelor in Paradise still to be announced, or maybe they'll be in the next batch.

Athena and The Tender Trap have been announced. Now all that’s missing is Bachelor in Paradise.

Edit: And Bachelor in Paradise has been announced, which takes care of all nine films.

What are the chances of WHO IS KILLING THE GREAT CHEFS OF EUROPE? being released on bluray, especially since George Segal died recently?

I almost bought the Warner Archives dvd, but I was hoping it might be released on bluray in the future.
